The automobile sector has been plagued by supply chain disruptions and a persistent chip scarcity as a result of the coronavirus epidemic. Despite this, the sector has seen a slew of large vehicle introductions this year, particularly in India. Keeping with the theme, several manufacturers are hopeful about 2022 and plan to introduce new vehicles at the start of the new year. The following are the new car launches in the first quarter of 2022.
Skoda Slavia
On November 18, 2021, the Skoda Slavia was introduced globally. Skoda began pre-bookings for the Slavia in India at the same time. After the Kushaq, the all-new sedan is the company’s second vehicle to use the MQB A0 IN platform. Aside from that, the Slavia has a classic Skoda external style and a modern dual-tone interior. It will be available with either a 1.0-litre turbo petrol or a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine, as well as a six-speed manual/automatic or seven-speed automated transmission. Skoda is expected to introduce the Slavia sometime in April 2022.
Audi Q7
Audi Q7 is the second vehicle in the list of new car launches in the first quarter of 2022. In India, Audi will begin the new year with the introduction of the new Q7, which is scheduled for January 2022. Audi, like Skoda and Volkswagen, began producing the Q7 in Maharashtra at its Aurangabad plant. In terms of style, this update puts the SUV closer to its more modern siblings. The Q7’s interior has also been revamped by Audi. In the meanwhile, the SUV will be powered by a 3.0-liter V6 turbocharged petrol engine with an automatic transmission.
Skoda Kodiaq
Skoda will not only introduce the Slavia to India, but also the new Kodiaq. In addition, the SUV is already being assembled at the brand’s Maharashtra facility in Aurangabad. The revised Kodiaq has a new look, new bumpers, new alloy wheels, modified rear lights, and a remodelled cabin with improved steering and amenities. Meanwhile, the new 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine will be paired to a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission in the Kodiaq. In India, the new Kodiaq is expected to be introduced in January of next year.
Kia Carens
Kia is preparing to unveil the all-new Carens at the start of the year. In March 2022, it is anticipated to be launched in the country. The seven-seat MPV had its global debut on December 16, 2021. It will be offered in a six-seat or seven-seat configuration. In addition, the MPV will be available with a turbocharged petrol engine linked to an automatic transmission, as well as a diesel engine mated to an automatic transmission. Another petrol engine is expected to be available.
