The Tokyo Motor Show always features quirky things on four- and two-wheels from Japan, but Yamaha’s Motobot is in a league of its own. So, just what is it?
Well, we are trying to figure that out, but essentially, it’s like a robot that’s learning to ride. And, the motorcycle that it’s trying to ride is Yam’s latest R1M. Yamaha says it’s a work in progress, but the robot has plans to beat #46 at his own game. Yes, that’s right. It wants to beat the Valentino Rossi.
Right at this moment, though, Motobot has training wheels to aid him. The whole thing might look cute and all, but Terminator fans will know all too well how this goes. On a serious note, the Motobot will help Yamaha analyse riding and accident data better, making motorcycles safer. Or, so they hope.
Meanwhile, until those training wheels are on, we know that Judgment Day is sometime away.
