Gearheads or just plain admirers of cool cars and other vehicles have got a couple of area auto shows they can motor to this Father’s Day weekend.

Antique, custom, muscle, classic and restored vehicles will be on display today from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Mopar Fest Car Show at Haynes Park in Rio Rancho.

The Mopar Muscle Club of New Mexico and the Rio Rancho Parks, Recreation and Community Services Department are hosting the free, all-ages event, says a city news release. Vendors will also be on-site selling a variety of items, including concessions.

Haynes Park is at 2006 Grande Blvd., which is across the street from Intel on N.M. 528.

And, this afternoon and evening and all day Sunday, the Sagebrush Auto Show returns for its 10th year at Sagebrush Community Church’s Riverside Campus on Albuquerque’s West Side.

The show “attracts more than 200 classic cars, hotrods, customs and all kinds of motorcycles each year,” according to an event news release.

The two-day event begins at 3 p.m. today. “Saturday will be our Club Day and feature entries from car clubs all over the state,” organizers say.

Special dash plaques will be given out to participants, and free hot dogs and drinks will be available before and after all church services to celebrate Father’s Day weekend.

Sunday will be the main show and judging. Event activities will run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The cost to enter a car in the show is $25.

New at this year’s event is a raffle for a silver 1968 Chevelle resto-mod. Raffle tickets are $20 or six for $100.

Raffle proceeds will help support Sagebrush Community Church mission activities and its popular “Pit Stop” ministry that helps single mothers and the elderly by providing free oil changes and other basic services for their cars, reads the event news release.

All Sagebrush Auto Show events, including food and drink, are free and open to the public. Church services will be held today at 4 and 5:30, and Sunday at 8:45, 10:30 and 12:15.

Sagebrush Community Church’s Riverside Campus is at 6440 Coors NW (Coors and La Orilla).
