Todd Gurley looked like he was NFL-ready when he was absolutely destroying opposing defenses as the star running back at Georgia. But after enduring a torn ACL last November against Auburn that knocked him out of the rest of his final college season, all of NFL preseason and the first two games of the regular season, it was hard to know what to expect from the Rams’ 2015 first round draft pick.

MUST WATCH: Todd Gurley Is Who We Thought He WasWell it turns out that Gurley is every bit as good as everyone though he would be. Here he is breaking free from the San Francisco 49ers defense for an incredible 71-yard touchdown run.

The 6’1″ 227 lb. Gurley is a physically dominant presence on the field, and is getting better and better every week. Entering today’s game, Gurley had only played in four games and started three. In his three starts, Gurley rushed for 146 yards, 159 yards and 128 yards respectively. That means that in his first three NFL starts, he recorded a total of 68 carries for 433 yards and two touchdowns.

As of halftime in Week 8, he has 10 carries for 98 yards and a touchdown. Not only is he getting Rookie of the Year consideration, Gurley might just be the the catalyst the already defensively-sound Rams need to make a legitimate run at a spot in the playoffs. If they win today, the Rams will be 4-3 and still second place in the NFC West behind the Arizona Cardinals; whom they beat in Week 4.
