The new model will be a part of Citroen’s new ‘C-Cubed’ plan – Cool, Comfort and Clever. The C21 will be the first model of the multi-model program. This program will cater to cars built for emerging markets like India and South America and the likes.
As per the plan, the C-Cubed cars will be underpinned by the new Common Modular Platform (CMP). This architecture is already in use by multiple Peugeot models overseas. It’s also rumored to underpin a made-in-India sub-4m Jeep product in the future.
Powertrain Features
The SUV will run on a 1.2-liter turbocharged petrol engine, which can produce up to 130bhp of power. The compact SUV could get a 99bhp/150Nm capable engine paired to a 5-speed manual gearbox. The new C3 compact SUV could be the first model in India to feature a flex-fuel system, which will feature a 1.2-liter petrol engine with ethanol blends starting from 27% to entirely on the biofuel. According to sources, the SUV will not come with a Diesel engine variant.
The C3’s 1.2 turbo-petrol engine and the sub-4m length will help it avail tax benefits. With updated & unique features, Citroen C3 is ready to take on rival compact SUVs in the Indian market.
