According to Auto Trader, the UK’s fastest selling used car in the month of October was the 2010 Citroen Grand C4 Picasso HDI, followed by the 2013 Toyota Aygo and 2013 Vauxhall Astra Coupe.

The Grand C4 Picasso sold in an average of 19 days across the UK with a retail price of £6,999, equipped with an HDI turbodiesel engine and an automatic transmission. In 2010, the Grand Picasso hadn’t received its facelift yet, though it was still one of Europe’s most versatile large MPVs.

Technically, it shared the same platform and range of engines with the first generation Citroen C4 and the Peugeot 307 and measured 4,590 mm (180.7 in) in length, 1,830 mm (72.0 in) in width and 1,690 mm (66.5 in) in height.

Last month, it performed well on the UK’s second hand market, as the numbers pretty much suggest that people are just as in need of large family haulers as they are of small city cars like the Aygo or young-ish Coupes like the 2013 Astra GTC.

Further down the pecking order was the 2012 Chevrolet Orlando, which can also be considered an MPV, followed by the 2012 Audi A5 TDI, the 2013 Dacia Sandero and the 2012 BMW 3-Series.

“The fastest seller figures are reported by Auto Trader on a monthly basis, and I am sure the data for October will be of particular interest to motor industry commentators and retailers alike,” said Auto Trader’s Karolina Edwards-Smajda.

“It is still very early days to assess what impact the VW Group emissions scandal may have had on the market. Despite not featuring in this month’s Top 10, speed of sale and market prices of the majority of VW models has not been noticeably impacted throughout October, and we are yet to see any changes in consumer demand. It’s been exactly a month since the Volkswagen Sharan topped the national fastest sellers list in September, so we will continue to monitor developments and trends closely over the coming months.”

VW did have some success on the used car market last month, with the Golf TDI and the Tiguan TDI becoming fast-sellers in certain regions such as East England, London and in the South respectively.
