We’ve seen the 5-door hatchback version, and now it’s time for the American version of Subaru’s next Impreza. It’s no surprise that Americans prefer sedans over hatchbacks, though that’s starting to change with more people ditching cars for small crossovers.
Nevertheless, Subaru rolled out its sleek Impreza Sedan Concept for this year’s LA Auto Show, and from what we can see, it’s probably a pretty close preview of what’s to come from the upstart Japanese brand.
Finished in a dazzling red paint job, the Impreza Sedan is certainly eye-catching, but we can’t help but wish they’d taken things a little further. It looks shockingly like the current WRX, but with a slightly redesigned rear end that has us seeing a bit of Honda Civic. While the concept does give us a pretty good idea of what to expect, it’s not exactly a radical design.
As for details, Subie has been reserved. There are rumors that the new Impreza will roll out the company’s new modular architecture, and as always, a boxer four-cylinder will reside under the hood and all-wheel-drive will come standard. Keep your eyes peeled for the production Impreza at either next year’s Detroit or New York auto shows.
