Skoda phased out the Fabia premium hatchback in India back in 2013, with talks of a facelift version making its way to our shores in 2015. Although, that did not happen, Skoda announced that the new generation Fabia is in fact coming, as the company has released a new teaser image ahead of its official debut at the Geneva Motor Show in March. Will it come to India? We doubt it, but the global market will certainly receive a major design overhaul from the facelifted Skoda Fabia.
The new generation Skoda Fabia will come with fresh and new design elements, along with state-of-the-art technology, to take on its contemporaries. The Fabia facelift will receive a new front with LED headlights, giving it a bold and strong look from its predecessor. Moreover, the updated Fabia, for the first time ever, will also get LED rear lights, and will come equipped with ‘Simply Clever’ features.
Skoda, however, has not revealed the technical specs of the Fabia facelift, but we expect it to come with 1.0-litre, three-cylinder TSI engine that is capable of churning out maximum power of 85 bhp. It is also rumored to get the new 1.5 TSI Evo engine, which is in the current generation Volkswagen Polo
The company says that the new generation Fabia will play an important role in Skoda’s current model range, as the company has sold more than four million units since it originally launched in 1999. The current third model generation alone accumulated sales in excess of 500,000 mark.
