The BSE Sensex and Nifty edged lower today amid lacklustre trading. Some buying was seen in oil & gas and metal stocks amid gains in global commodity prices. The market breadth was also weak with BSE midcap and smallcap indices also edging lower by 0.20 per cent.
Analysts say trading is likely to be lacklustre for the rest of this year as foreign fund managers typically go on holidays during year-end. Plus, there are no global and domestic triggers in the near term.
At 9:55 am, the Sensex was down 80 points while Nifty was trading at 8117, off 21 points.
