A new report from Netherlands claims that Samsung is looking to offer a free Gear VR headset to every pre-order of the Galaxy S7 as well as Galaxy S7 Edge.
Android World reports that Samsung in Netherlands will offer the free Gear VR headset to all users who place the pre-orders for the new Samsung high-end Galaxy phones between February 21 and March 10. To recall, Samsung India launched the Gear VR headset in India last month priced at Rs. 8,200.
The report also adds that the both the phones will start to ship only starting March 11. The rumoured March availability corroborates an earlier report that suggested that Samsung may release the Galaxy S7 in March, which will be few weeks after the MWC launch.
A recent report also suggested that Samsung may at its “Galaxy Unpacked 2016” event on February 21 in Barcelona also reveal the Gear 360 virtual reality (VR) camera. According to initial reports, the Gear 360 VR camera is rumoured to be a part of the Project Beyond. The device is said to be a spherical camera which could capture 360-degree imagery using two 180-degree ‘fisheye’ lenses.
Based on preliminary leaks, the Samsung Galaxy S7 and the Galaxy S7 Edge are widely expected to feature microSD card expansion support with a capacity of up to 200GB. Also tipped is that year Samsung may use the always-on display (AOD) functionality on both the handsets. In addition, the duo is said to get a bump in the battery capacities and will feature 3000mAh (Galaxy S7) and 3600mAh (Galaxy S7 Edge) batteries. The Galaxy S7 is likely to sport a 5.1-inch screen while the Galaxy S7 Edge is said to come with a 5.5-inch screen. Both the handsets are said to sport QHD (1440×2560 pixels) screen resolution.
