Samsung Galaxy A7 (2017) Rumoured to Sport 16-Megapixel Front Camera, Water Resistance

It’s that time of the year when Samsung launches a new generation of Galaxy A lineup. Last year in December, Samsung unveiled the second-generation Galaxy A smartphones which included the Galaxy A3, Galaxy A5, and Galaxy A7. As we wait for the South Korean giant to unveil the 2017 versions of the Galaxy A series, some fresh rumours (regarding the Galaxy A7) have sprung up to add some depth to the upcoming smartphone.

According to a report by Sammobile, the Galaxy A7 (2017) is expected to sport a 5.7-inch Super AMOLED full-HD display, making it slightly larger than the 5.5-inch Galaxy A7 (2016). The device may be powered by Samsung’s Exynos 7880 Octa processor with 3GB of RAM and 32GB inbuilt storage that’s expandable.
If the rumours are true, one of the highlights of the upcoming Galaxy A7 (2017) will be the 16-megapixel front camera with f/1.9 aperture. It is likely that Samsung will go for the same 16-megapixel module that is seen in the Galaxy C9 Pro. Meanwhile, the rear camera is also said to be 16-megapixel, much like the previous edition.

The Galaxy A7 (2017) is also expected to come with an IP68 certification, making it highly dust and water-resistant, similar to the Galaxy S7. Samsung has been steadily incorporating premium features in its mid-range Galaxy A lineup and an IP68 certification could add to that. The 2016 lineup saw Samsung introduce a glass and metal design language with OIS and fingerprint sensor, all of which are likely to make it to the 2017 versions as well.

It is expected to feature the regular connectivity options and a USB Type-C port. The Galaxy A7 (2017) is also expected to be bulkier at 157.69×76.92×7.8mm compared to its predecessor which measured 151.5×74.1×7.3mm. This could be due to a bigger 3600mAh battery expected to be fitted in the upcoming device.

Going by past, the new Galaxy A lineup is expected to be unveiled some time in December.
