Samsung Galaxy A7 (2016), Galaxy A5 (2016) Launched in India

Samsung on Thursday at its Samsung Forum event in Kuala Lumpur launched its Galaxy A5 (2016) and the Galaxy A7 (2016) smartphones for India priced at Rs. 29,400 and Rs. 33,400 respectively. The dual-SIM supporting 4G LTE smartphones will be available in the country via Snapdeal and offline retailers starting February 15. Both run Android 5.1 Lollipop out-of-the-box.

It is worth mentioning that the South Korean tech giant first launched the duo in China in December last year. The company in December also launched its Galaxy A3 (2016), but did not detail plans to introduce it in India just yet. Samsung also announced a bundled Airtel data plan, with up to 30GB of data free for six months.

The Samsung Galaxy A7 (2016) features a 5.5-inch full-HD (1080×1920 pixels) resolution Super Amoled display and packs an octa-core Exynos SoC (unspecified model) clocked at 1.6GHz, clubbed with 3GB of RAM. It features a 13-megapixel rear camera with LED flash and optical image stabilisation (OIS) and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera. Both sport f/1.9 aperture lenses.

The Galaxy A7 (2016) supports LTE Cat. 6 connectivity besides Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.1, ANT+, USB 2.0 and NFC connectivity options. Measuring 151.5×74.1×7.3mm, the handset weighs 172 grams and is backed by a 3300mAh battery, which also supports fast charging. Accelerometer, proximity, geomagnetic sensors and a fingerprint scanner are also included.

The Samsung Galaxy A5 (2016) shares most specifications with the Galaxy A7 (2016), but with some minor changes. It sports a smaller 5.2-inch full-HD Super Amoled display, 2GB of RAM, and 2900mAh battery with fast charging. It measures 144.8×71.0x7.3mm and weighs 155 grams.

Samsung additionally announced its plans to make its devices in Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Bhutan but failed to give any particular time frame.
