Commenting on the Renault Kwid’s new sales milestone, Sumit Sawhney, CEO and Managing Director, Renault India, said, “Renault KWID has proved its mettle in the fiercely competitive mini hatchback segment in India. Since its launch, we have introduced product enhancements and innovations at regular intervals in keeping with evolving customer behaviour and preferences including the CLIMBER and AMT versions. Indian customers favour products that are contemporary, offering the best value proposition. We are grateful to our customers for the trust bestowed in the Renault brand and will continue to make the KWID more accessible to customers across the country through our growing dealership network”.

Renault believes that post-GST implementation the Kwid has become even more accessible to car buyers with a starting price of INR 2.61 Lakh, going up to ₹ 4.49 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) for the Climber AMT variant. This means that currently, the total savings on KWID range is between ₹ 5,200 and ₹ 29,500 depending on the state, model and the variant purchased, basis the tax rates applicable prior to GST.

Renault India offers three versions of the Kwid hatchback – the standard Kwid, Kwid 1.0L/AMT, and the Kwid Climber edition, which are further classified into multiple iterations based on engine and transmission. Essentially, the Kwid comes with two petrol engines and two transmission options. The standard Kwid hatchback is powered by an 800 cc three-cylinder petrol engine that makes 53 bhp and 72 Nm of peak torque, which comes mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox as standard. Renault also offers a more powerful 1-litre three-cylinder petrol engine that does duty on the Kwid 1.0, Kwid AMT and the Kwid Climber models. This engine makes about 67 bhp and 91 Nm of peak torque transmission options include both a 5-speed manual and AMT gearbox.
Furthermore, the Renault Kwid also boasts several best in class features that coupled with its stylish crossover design makes it a good value proposition. For instance, the Kwid is the only car in its segment that offers a touchscreen MediaNAV system with Bluetooth, AUX-IN connectivity among others. The well-designed cabin offers decent space for 5 average size adults and neat interior along with an optional driver side airbag.
