Mahindra taking a note of the trending compact SUV segment in India, is planning on introducing a compact sub-four-metre version of the Bolero. Supporting claims, the Bolero Mini test-mule was spotted, thereby indicating its possible launch soon. If launched, this will be the fourth compact SUV to be rolled out after TUV300, KUV100 and NuvoSport from Mahindra.
Official technical specification for the next-gen Bolero is not known for now. However, we believe that the Bolero Mini might be powered by the 1.5-litre mHawk three cylinder diesel engine which currently serves the TUV300 and the NuvoSport. The smaller engine will also help it position itself better in the compact SUV segment. The sub four-metre Bolero will continue to have the same wheelbase measuring 2,680 mm.
The sub four-metre Bolero is not expected to get major design upgrades. It is expected to continue with its iconic design except for tweaked bumpers. As for the interior, it is expected to remain the same with no major upgrades expected for now. However, the space between the seats will be modified for better occupant seating. The rear will however get the jump seats which resemble the NuvoSport and the TUV300. More details about the vehicle will be known in the coming days.
Mahindra has however refused to comment about the Bolero Mini.
