New car launches in August

Ahead of the festive season, car sales in the country are usually slack. To tackle this, a majority of car manufacturers offer a range of discounts on the existing models. However, two manufacturers, taking a different approach, are expected to launch new models this month namely the New Maruti Suzuki Ciaz and the Jeep Wrangler. Read below to find out what these new models will offer –

New Maruti Suzuki Ciaz

Due for launch in the second half of August, the new Maruti Suzuki Ciaz will be offered with a fresh set of mechanical, cosmetic and feature upgrades. Further, it is likely to come with a refreshed 1.5-litre K15B petrol engine that will generate around 104bhp of power and 138Nm of torque. The diesel version remains unchanged for now. Also, for the first time, Maruti Suzuki might also offer a mild hybrid system in the petrol version to offer optimised fuel efficiency. The diesel version will continue to benefit from the SHVS (Smart Hybrid Vehicle from Suzuki) mild hybrid system.

For freshness, the vehicle gets redesigned projector headlamps and LED DRLs that complement the chrome-studded grille. The revised front bumper features larger air intake and updated fog lamps. The rear section gets new LED tail lamps and tweaked reflectors on the revised bumper. As for the sides, it will look more or less similar to the existing generation model except for a set of new alloy wheels. As for the interior, it gets a lighter shade of faux wood inserts on the dashboard as well as the doors. Moreover, the new model will feature an updated steering wheel with cruise control button and an updated SmartPlay infotainment system featuring Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Jeep Wrangler

Jeep has been spotted testing the three-door and the five-door versions of the new Wrangler in India on several occasions. This new model is speculated to be introduced in India this month. The SUV gets fresh design elements even though it is not entirely visually different from its predecessor. The vertically slatted grille continues to be the signature feature at the front, along with the round headlamps on the flanks. The fog lamps are separately mounted on the front bumper and the tail design is also new, but the company has retained its overall box-shape body.

As seen in spied images, the test mule featured an all-black interior along with leather cladded seats. Reports claim that the vehicle also gets a roll cage beneath the hardtop with a white roof liner. The new Wrangler has replaced the 2.8-litre diesel with a newer 3.0-litre unit that produces 260bhp/600Nm. The company will carry the 2.0-litre petrol and 3.6-litre Pentastar engine forward from the older car.
