If you plan on buying a new car in 2025, we’re confident that safety must be a top priority in your checklist. With modern tech and the latest features, many brands are striving hard to provide well-built and safer cars. For a safe and strong option, you can definitely check out the Tata Harrier, which has won the Global NCAP Safer Car award in 2023. The Harrier is a 5-seater SUV released in 2019 in a diesel variant and will soon be launched in an EV variant in 2025.

It is a modern car with a lot of features, including a voice-controlled panoramic sunroof, appealing color options, and a solid design. Beginning with a starting price of Rs. 14.99 Lakhs and 25 variants, the Tata Harrier safety rating is 5 stars for NCAP and Global NCAP. Continue reading to learn more about the Tata Harrier’s safety features and NCAP rating. Safety Rating of the NCAP-Tata Harrier In the Global New Car Assessment Program (NCAP), the Tata Harrier has done extremely well. It excelled in the assessment and received a 5-star rating in the adult and occupancy protection category. The vehicle’s performance in frontal and side crash tests is reflected in its outstanding safety rating.

Tata Harrier Adult Occupant Protection Rating 5-stars

Tata Harrier NCAP rating for adult occupancy has set a benchmark for other cars. With a 5-star rating and an impressive score of 33.05 out of 34 points, Harrier features advanced safety standards. This car passed the NCAP safety test with flying colors, which is reflected in its high safety rating. The results revealed that Tata Harrier provided ‘Good’ protection to the occupants’ neck, head, and knee during the frontal collision test. The car provided “Good” protection for the overall safety of the driver and passengers in a side impact. The side pole impact, on the other hand, received mixed reviews. The head and pelvis areas remained well protected, the abdomen received adequate protection, and the chest was marginally protected. The car’s exterior remained in stable condition, making it a high-value car in terms of safety.

Child Occupant Protection Rating for the Tata Harrier 5-stars

Often, cars receive an underwhelming score for child occupancy, as this particular test is stringent to ensure children’s safety is never compromised. In the NCAP evaluation, a 5-star rating and 45 points out of 49 ensure maximum child safety. Tata Harrier NCAP rating included a perfect 12 out of 12 score for CRS installation and an overall dynamic score of 24 out of 24.

The NCAP child occupant test included two dummies, ages 18 months and 3 years. The rearward-facing child seats were secured with ISOFIX anchorages. The heads did not sustain damage in the frontal collision test, and overall protection was provided. Moreover, the side impact test also concluded that the dummies’ ‘Protection was full’. The Tata Harrier is a highly sought-after option for families because it received a very high rating for child occupant safety.

Tata Harrier Safety Features

Following are some of the features that have contributed to the Safari’s impressive safety rating:

ABS with EBD

The Tata Harrier has an ABS with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD) on board. This mechanism ensures equivalent brake pressure distribution, enhancing overall stability and safety.

Airbags

The Harrier has a total of 7 airbags, including 6 standard ones: 2 frontal, 2 side, and 2 curtain airbags. The airbags guard against collisions and lessen the likelihood of severe injuries. Wheel with Collapsible Steering A collapsible steering wheel can be helpful for the driver in the event of a collision. The wheel caves inwards, hence ensuring that the driver’s chest is not harmed by the wheel severely.

Corner Control Stability

When manoeuvring around sharp turns and harsh roads, cars often struggle with stability. With control over selective brakes, drivers can move the car efficiently.

Electronic Stability Program

The Tata Harrier’s ESP has 16 advanced safety features that help prevent the car from skidding and losing control while driving, especially during harsh conditions. The ESP sensors are continuously in action, detecting and analysing every move carefully.

Hill Hold Assist

Drivers don’t have to worry about rolling backwards when switching from the brake pedal to the accelerator while driving uphill. The hill hold assist is a crucial safety feature that ensures a safe ride in hilly regions.

Immobilizer

Leaving your car unattended in a silent or isolated area can be quite worrisome. That is when an engine immobilizer proves to be useful. The engine shuts down when someone operates the car with a false or unauthorised key.

Overspeeding Alert

A notification pops on the car’s dashboard, alerting the occupants when the car is being driven above the speed limit. Such alerts are essential to decrease the likelihood of accidents caused by overspeeding.

Perimetric Alarm System

This feature is another one of the Tata Harrier’s theft-prevention measures. A trigger alarm goes off when anyone attempts to enter the car’s perimeter without proper access.

Parking Sensors in the Rear Several sensors are installed in the Tata Harrier to make parking more convenient and safe. The sensors provide a visual of the car’s dashboards, allowing drivers to deflect from any obstacle that could damage the car’s exterior.

Seat Belt Warning One of the major traffic safety rules in the book is to wear seat belts at all times while commuting in four-wheelers. When a passenger breaks this crucial rule, a seat belt reminder notifies the driver.

Type Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS)

Several car accidents have occurred due to improper maintenance of tyres. TPMS monitors tyre conditions and issues an alert to drivers when it senses low tyre pressure. It helps prevent the car from experiencing blowouts.

Automatic Door Locking

When the sensor detects the car’s speed reaching the specified limit, it automatically locks the car doors.
