Volkswagen may be going through a rough patch right now, but models like the GTI and Jetta GLI still offer accessible performance. As part of a push to have a bigger presence in North America, Momo is applying some subtle mods and the company’s red-and-yellow color scheme to a 2016 GLI at the SEMA Show.
Rather than overwhelm the GLI with extra parts, Momo gave the German sedan an injection of Italian style. The restrained exterior features the company’s 19-inch Revenge wheels and a lower ride height thanks to an H&R coilover kit. Pirelli P Zero tires fill up the wheel wells nicely. Brembo brakes up front and Golf R units provide style and stopping power.
Momo opts for similarly understated changes for the GLI’s interior. The biggest tweak is fitting the company’s chunky, limited-edition GT50 Anniversario steering wheel. An additional interesting touch is the digital info display that’s hidden underneath the driver’s air vent next the instrument panel. It blends in perfectly with the stock pieces but is able to display turbo boost, exhaust gas temperature, coolant temp, and more. As the final flourish, Momo incorporates some yellow trim and stitching around the cabin.
