The Lawrenceville City Council voted Dec. 7 to deny a special use request from John B. Williams for a used car sales lot and automotive repair shop at Hosea Road and U.S. Highway 29.
The request was denied in part due to a conflict with the city’s Master Plan that designates the area as one of nine “Gateway Nodes.” These gateway entry points are considered community access points and should be used to introduce Lawrenceville to residents and visitors.
Previous rezoning and special use permit in the area required the applicant to propose a gateway entry design. Williams’ request was not presented with an entry design plan.
