Inching closer to the festive season, we have four big new car launches next week in India. Hyundai will launch the Grand i10 Nios on 20 August, followed by the new BMW 3 Series and Maruti Suzuki XL6 on the next day, 21 August. The much-awaited compact SUV, the Kia Selto is due for India launch on 22 August. Moving towards the end of this month, the Renault Triber will be launched in the country on 28 August.
Hyundai Grand i10 Nios
The upcoming Hyundai Grand i10 Nios will be positioned above the Grand i10 in India. The hatchback will be available in six colours and 10 variants. The Grand i10 Nios will measure 3805mm in length, 1680mm in width, 1520mm in height and it will have a wheelbase of 2450mm. Compared to the current-gen model, the Grand i10 Nios is 40mm longer and 20mm wider than the regular Grand i10. Powertrain options for the model will include a BS-VI compliant version of the 1.2-litre Kappa petrol engine and a BS-VI ready version of the 1.2-litre CRDi engine. Transmission options will include a five-speed manual unit and an AMT.
BMW 3 Series
The seventh-generation of the BMW 3 Series is based on the CLAR platform. The new 3 Series is believed to be 55kgs lighter, and 76mm longer, 16mm wider and 1mm taller than its predecessor. The upcoming premium sedan also has an increased wheelbase of 41mm. Engine options on the G20 BMW 3 Series will include a 2.0-litre petrol motor and a 2.0-litre diesel motor in the 330i and 320d guise respectively. An eight-speed automatic transmission sending power to the rear wheels will be offered as standard on all variants.
Maruti Suzuki XL6
On the same day as the BMW 3-Series, Maruti Suzuki will launch its premium MPV, the XL6 in two variants and four trims – Zeta manual/Zeta Automatic and Alpha manual/Alpha automatic. Post-launch, the vehicle will be available in six colour options – metallic premium silver, metallic magma gray, prime auburn red, pearl brave khaki, pearl artic white and nexa blue. Mechanically, the XL6 will be powered by a BS-VI compliant K15 petrol engine with Smart Hybrid technology.
Kia Seltos
Kia Motors will mark its debut in India with the launch of the Seltos SUV. The Seltos SUV will be available in two trims – GT Line and Tech Line with many first in segment features. Under the hood, the Seltos will be available in three BS-VI engine options – Smartstream 1.5 petrol, 1.5 diesel CRDI VGT and Smartstream 1.4 Turbo petrol. These engines will be offered in three automatic transmission options – seven-DCT, IVT, and six-AT along with six-speed manual transmission. Over the next few months, Kia is likely to introduce a superior performance-focused GT variant.
Renault Triber
Renault Triber, the sub-four-metre seven-seater vehicle is due for launch later this month. The Triber is based on the modified CMF-A platform. Mechanically, the vehicle will be powered by a 1.0-litre three-cylinder petrol engine producing 71bhp/96Nm. This engine will be offered with either a five-speed manual or a five-speed automated manual transmission. The vehicle draws its design inspiration from the Captur and it sits on steel wheels that look like alloy wheels to save cost without losing visual appeal. The vehicle further gets sleek wraparound projector headlamps that complement the chrome grille. It also gets LED DRLs in place of the fog lamps and a faux scuff plate.
