Japanese automakers have a knack for bringing their concepts to road, especially Suzuki. Suzuki’s Kizashi got the same treatment and A-star before that was also brought to road with minimalistic changes to the conceptual design and now it looks like Maruti’s latest premium offering is also on its way to us, straight off the design board. On the outside,Maruti Suzuki Baleno features a ‘V’ shape front grille, a partial floating roof, sloping roof line, rear spoiler and new Suzuki alloys.The 2015 Maruti Suzuki Baleno will be company’s proper entry into the premium hatchback segment. The car will rival the likes of Hyundai i20 and Honda Jazz.

Booking of Maruti Baleno are now open and the car will be sold out of Maruti’s premium NEXA dealerships. The car will feature Maruti’s SHVS mild hybrid technology and will be a low cost hybrid. The hybrid technology will be exclusive to diesel variants, which will make Baleno India’s first premium hybrid hatchback. This will also help buyers avail government’s FAME scheme benefits that includes subsidies for hybrid and electric vehicles.

As far as power-plants are concerned the car will feature a 1.3 litre DDiS200 diesel engine, which will offer fuel-efficiency of around 30 kmpl. The car will also come in a petrol variant, which will be offered with an option of automatic transmission, but no such concessions will be made for the diesel variants. The other transmission on offer will be a 5-speed automatic.

The interiors will get a plush premium feel and will come with an all-black color scheme. The instrument clusters and steering wheel will get silver accents and chrome highlights. Other additions will include a 7-inch SmartPlay infotainment system that was first seen inside Ciaz and S Cross.
