New car launches in India in September

Car manufacturers in the country are gearing up to the festive season. This September, we expect to see a slew of new car launches in the country, which ranges from a budget-friendly hatchback to a luxury sedan. The auto industry is likely to get some relief this festive season against the constant drop in sales in the last few months. Read below to learn more about the new car launches in the country next month.

Volkswagen Polo and Vento facelift

The month of September will kick start with the launch of Volkswagen Polo and Vento facelift on 4 September. The cars will get revised cosmetic styling and new feature updates. The Volkswagen Polo facelift is expected to be offered in two petrol and one diesel engine option – 1.0-litre and 1.2-litre petrol engines, and the diesel gets a 1.5-litre engine. The Vento, on the other hand, is expected to be offered with 1.6-litre petrol and a 1.2-litre turbo petrol unit, while the diesel is expected to get a 1.5-litre engine.

Audi A6

The fifth-generation Audi A6 is likely to be launched in India by mid-September. The car will be available in both petrol and diesel engine options. The upcoming model is expected to share design updates with the latest Audi A8 L. Additionally, it will be offered with all the latest safety and comfort technology. Post-launch, the vehicle will compete against the likes of the Mercedes-Benz E-Class, Jaguar XF, BMW 5 Series and the Volvo S90 in the mid-size luxury sedan segment of the Indian car market.

Renault Kwid facelift

The upcoming Renault Kwid facelift will get design updates from the City K-ZE electric concept, which was showcased at the 2019 Shanghai Motor Show in April. The fascia is highlighted by the higher-placed sleek LED daytime running lamps and lower placed headlamps, which is the design philosophy in vogue these days. Mechanically, the existing 0.8-litre and 1.0-litre three-cylinder petrol engines will be carried over on the new Renault Kwid. However, both the powertrains will be BS-VI compliant and continue to be offered with a 5-speed manual and AMT options.

Maruti Suzuki S-Presso

Maruti Suzuki’s entry-level compact crossover, the S-Presso is expected to be powered by a 1.0-litre K10B three-cylinder petrol engine that will be mated to a five-speed AMT and manual transmissions. The crossover is internally codenamed as the Y1K, and is expected to be based on a modified version of the Heartect platform, which also underpins the new Maruti Suzuki WagonR. It is likely to feature dual-tone paint schemes and a segment-first touchscreen infotainment system with a rear camera.

Tata Harrier Dark Edition

Tata Motors is expected to launch the feature-loaded Harrier Dark Edition in the country next month. The new Tata Harrier Dark Edition will be finished in a shade of Atlas Black. This new paint job will be complemented by a ‘Blackstone’ front and rear skid plates as well as 17-inch alloy wheels. Also on offer would be a special ‘Dark’ badging, Atlas black door handles and grey headlamp bezels. The vehicle will continue to be powered by a 2.0-litre Kyrotec diesel engine that produces 138bhp and 350Nm of torque. This engine is paired to a six-speed manual transmission.
