The monsoon season is just around the corner and so are two new much-awaited launches and unveilings in India. Of these, the Toyota Glanza and the Jeep CompassTrailhawk will make its debut in the hot-selling hatchback and off-road SUV segment. Meanwhile, Kia and Renault will showcase the SP2i and the Triber, respectively. Read below to learn more about them –
Toyota Glanza
Toyota Glanza, the rebadged version of the Maruti Suzuki Baleno, is set for its India launch on 6 June. The upcoming Toyota badged hatchback will be the first product to be launched under the Suzuki-Toyota cross badging agreement. The vehicle will be available in two variants – G and V, which will be equivalent to the Baleno’s Zeta and Alpha variants. The Glanza will be powered by a 1.2-litre K12B petrol motor that makes 83bhp and 113Nm. It will be mated to a five-speed manual gearbox and a CVT option.
Jeep Compass Trailhawk
The sporty iteration of the Jeep Compass, the Trailhawk is due for launch in June. The Jeep Compass Trailhawk comes with increased ride-height (about 20mm higher than standard), off-road components and a 4×4 drive system. As seen in images, the vehicle also offers different drive modes like Sport, Snow, Mud, Sand and Rock. Mechanically, the vehicle will be powered by a BS-VI compliant 2.0-litre diesel engine mated to a nine-speed automatic gearbox. The SUV will get redesigned bumpers for better approach and departure angles, apart from tow hooks and a black bonnet decal with generous use of Trail Rated badging.
Kia SP2i Signature
Kia will showcase the SP2i in India on 20 June. The final name (likely to be named the Tusker or the Trailster) of the car, as well as the launch date, will be revealed during the event. The production version is expected to be powered by 1.5-litre petrol and diesel engine options. The vehicle is expected to get a six-speed manual as standard, while DCT is likely to be optional in the petrol guise.
Renault Triber
Renault Triber will be globally unveiled on 19 June. Post-launch, the seven-seat compact vehicle will sit below the Lodgy. The upcoming vehicle is expected to be powered by the 1.2-litre three-cylinder engine from the Datsun Go/Go Plus. At the time of launch, the vehicle will come mated to a five-speed manual and an AMT version is likely to be introduced at a later date. The Triber will offer a segment-first removable third-row seat that is expected to be capable of manual folding and unlatching operation.
