Wild though they are, Lamborghini’s current crop of four-wheeled raging bulls are mannerly by comparison to their cantankerous predecessors. And alas, updates to the 2016 Huracán suggest that they’ll be even more genteel henceforth. While the rip-snortin’ 602-hp V-10 adds no more power for 2016, it does get off-throttle cylinder deactivation to save fuel—as if owners give a snot about efficiency—while the all-wheel-drive system has been reprogrammed for better drivability in Strada (street) mode.
No styling updates—and no price increases!—are part of the 2016 update, but new LED engine-bay lighting will now be visible through the optional transparent engine cover, the better to show off the gleaming optional carbon fiber engine bay, on cars so equipped. Further back, some tweaks to the sports exhaust system include available gloss black pipes.
Lamborghini has always been happy to customize its cars in wildly imaginative ways, but for what it’s worth, the company has added some heritage colors— Blu Le Mans, Giallo Tenerife, Oro Adonis, and Verde Scandal—that supposedly tie in to the 50th anniversary of the Miura next year. More matte paint options, new interior options, a new power outlet, more cargo nets and—at last—cupholders are all on the 2016 docket as well. Other updates include the availability of cruise control and a new Sensonum audio system with 390 watts, a 10-channel amplifier, and 10 speakers with, naturally, hexagonal grilles.
