Concerns about the planned expansion of Navarre Auto Depot on Highway 87 South are leading to a decision over the standard for parking-lot surfaces in the Heart of Navarre business district.
The three-year-old, family owned business originally requested and obtained permission to display a maximum of six vehicles on a paved lot it leases in front of the commercial garage owned by Navarre Auto Repair.
But last week, Chris Pike, a principal in the used car sales operation, acknowledged to the Planning and Zoning Board that he has now expanded to display more than 20 cars, trucks and motorcycles without seeking county approval to do so. He belatedly asked the Zoning Board to permit an expansion of Auto Depot’s parking area to accommodate rising inventory.
