Land Rover’s performance SUV, the Range Rover Sport SVR, is up for sale in India now at a price tag of INR 2.12 Crore. The range topping vehicle is powered by a petrol 5.0-litre petrol fueled V8 that produces a hefty 542 bhp of power and a peak torque of 680 Nm. It will be rivaling against the likes of Porsche Cayenne Turbo S and Mercedes ML63 AMG.
This vehicle is tested and improved at the very special Nurburgring race circuit under the supervision of John Edward, Ex-JLR head.
Speaking of the performance figures, the SVR takes 4.5 seconds to hit 100 from standstill and goes up to a limited top speed of 261 kmph. To achieve this, it gets a heck lot of wizardry in the underpinning. Apart from the 8-Speed ZF gearbox with paddle shifters and the permanent all-wheel drive system, it gets Dynamic Active Rear Locking Differential for optimum traction. Dynamic torque-vectoring is done using braking that gives the same results as in a clutch type torque vectoring system, while dynamic stability control is more sharply tuned for high speeds.
For unparalleled aural experience, there is a two-stage exhaust system that has a brain of its own, as its electronically controlled valves open up to make this SUV sound like a sports car, as Land Rover puts it. And as the JLR’s F-type is arguably one of the best sounding sports car of the planet, the SVR too will be producing the same overruns filled with bellows, barps, and crackles.
Speaking of the off-road ability, SVR won’t be far from the that as the same wading depth of the 850mm, a low ratio gearbox, a electronic diff lock in the central transfer case and the all-wheel-drive mechanism.
The car ride on 21-inch alloy wheels wrapped around by 275/45 R21 tyres, while optional 22-incher with 295/40 R22 Continental SportContact 5 rubber are also available. Backing these are the 6-piston calliper Brembo brakes.
There are few subtle aesthetic changes as compared to the standard Range Rover Sport, like the new front and rear bumper with larger air intakes, new grille finish, slightly prominent wheel arches and integrated rear diffuser with quad exhausts. While the insides are available with 4 interior color options in the leather upholstery, options to choose between aluminum and carbon fibre trims.
