Maruti Suzuki may launch another model in the A-segment. Reports suggest that the company is believed to be looking in this direction to strengthen and more importantly retain its position as segment leader. It currently has 35 per cent of its sales from the A-segment models.
Kenichi Ayukawa, VP Maruti Suzuki India, has hinted that the company is already developing a new product for the segment but has not yet finalised the final details of the product. While the company has branched out and is for the first time doing well in the premium parts of the market it still gets its major volumes from the mini segment.
It seems possible that Maruti Suzuki may go after the Renault Kwid and its pseudo crossover styling. Given that the latter has over 80,000 bookings, it is obviously a successful formula and has future potential for good volumes.
