OnePlus 3T Launch Doesn't Mean the OnePlus 3 Is Going Away

OnePlus launched the OnePlus 3T smartphone last night with a faster processor and better camera. Running up to the launch, the OnePlus 3(Reviw) smartphone was continually out of stock in the US, and many started speculating that OnePlus has discontinued the OnePlus 3 for good, to make way for the OnePlus 3T. However, OnePlus has doused all those rumours, and has confirmed that it would replenish the OnePlus 3 stock eventually.

Apart from saying the OnePlus 3 will not be discontinued, the company refrained from giving any further clarification. There is no word on when the stock will arrive, and will the price tag be decreased, now that the OnePlus 3T has taken the flagship spot. Just to recap, the OnePlus 3 retails for $399 currently in the US, and Rs. 27,999 in India. The Graphite and Soft Gold colour variants are both still available to purchase on Amazon India.
The OnePlus 3T was launched in two storage variants. The 64GB model has been priced at GBP 399 (roughly Rs. 33,700), EUR 439 (roughly Rs. 31,200), and USD 439 (roughly Rs. 29,800), while the 128GB model has been priced at GBP 439 (roughly Rs. 37,100), EUR 479 (roughly Rs. 34,800), and USD 479 (roughly Rs. 32,500). It will be available in the US from November 22 and in Europe from November 26.

The smartphone is powered by a faster Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 SoC (two cores clocked at 1.6GHz and two cores clocked at 2.35GHz) compared to the Snapdragon 820 SoC on the original. Additionally, it has an improved 16-megapixel Samsung 3P8SP sensor for its front camera with 1-micron pixels. It also gets PDAF autofocus, rather than just a fixed focus setup. It bears a larger 3400mAh battery, and instead of the Graphite colour variant, gets a Gunmetal colour variant. There is no word on when the OnePlus 3T will be available in India.
